Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board re-elects Luz del Rosario as Chair, Thomas Thomas as Vice-Chair

At the annual Organizational Meeting of the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board on Tuesday, November 21, trustees re-elected Mississauga Wards 6 & 11 trustee, Luz del Rosario to a second consecutive term as chair of the 11-member Board of Trustees. Mississauga Ward 5 trustee, Thomas Thomas, was re-elected vice-chair, also for a second consecutive term.

"It is an honour and a privilege to serve as chair for a second term, and I look forward to working with my fellow trustees to continue the great work that has taken place over the past year," said Luz del Rosario.  “What binds us and drives us is our faith and common belief in Catholic education as a positive, lasting and impactful force in our community.â€

The meeting opened with the annual address to the board by the Director of Education, Marianne Mazzorato, who recognized and thanked system partners, including parents and guardians, trustees, unions and associations, parish priests and staff at all levels for their commitment and dedication to Catholic education.

In addition to the election of the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees, elections were held for four committees. Results, including the election of the Board Chair and Vice-Chair are as follows:​​

​The meeting was preceded by a Eucharistic celebration held in the St. John XXIII Chapel at the Catholic Education Centre, celebrated by the Most Reverend Francis Leo, Archbishop of Toronto.

Ji8¸£ÀûÍø Board is one of the largest and most diverse school boards in Ontario with approximately 73,000 students in 151 Catholic schools located throughout Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville.
